The current setting for Roleplay in Battle City III takes place 3 years after the events of Memory World. The 7 Sennen Items have been lost, along with the 3 Egyptian God Cards, when Atem passed on to the afterlife.
Graduating from Highschool, both Yuugi Motou and Katsuya Jounouchi traveled to America to duel professionally, while Hiroto Honda proceeded to join the Japan Self-Defense Forces. Their friend Anzu Mazaki also traveled to America to pursue her dream of dancing in New York city. Anzu, along with Yuugi and Jounouchi all still remain in America at this time.
Seto Kaiba after his defeat at Battle City went to America with his brother Mokuba to construct his series of theme-parks known as Kaiba Land, building on their childhood dream of a park where orphans could visit for free. With the parks near completion, however, Kaiba has returned to Japan to run Kaiba Corporation once more.
With his return, Seto Kaiba announced to the Japanese dueling community that Kaiba Corporation would be sponsoring groups of duelists to form what would be known as Duelist Guilds. After forming a guild, duelists would then attempt to better their dueling abilities and scores both in tournaments and skirmish duels in order to bring their guild the honor of being the top guild in Japan.
With this stage set, Duelists have been let loose to gather with and under one another in their attempts to create the strongest guilds possible; all while wondering what challenges await them from their fellow guilds, and even Kaiba Corporation itself.
