Basic rules for RP in Battle City III.
Consent Rule:
This is a huge foundation for roleplay; consent. You may never under any circumstances post what another character does. You may not post that an attack or action by you affects the other character, you may only post that you make an attempt to do so, and possibly the results of what its success would have. The other player must post whether or not their character is or is not hit/affected by your action, and their reaction to that.
No God-Modding:
This should be self-explanatory. You may not auto-hit (see consent rule above), be invulnerable to everything, dodge every attack, have extremely potent attacks, super speed, etc. Your character must be fair in accordance to the setting / RP they are in, and you must play them realistically. If some form of attack is more likely to hit you than not, it should hit you.
If you love your character too much for them to be injured in some sort of fight, then keep them out of a fight in the first place.
Keep OOC chatter to a minimum during and by current roleplays:
We all need clarification at times on an action we did not quite understand, but try to keep any non-rp related OOC chatter to an absolute minimum during and nearby ongoing roleplays.
No use of OOC information ICly:
Just because you know it does not mean your character does. You may not use information about the storyline or characters that you learned from OOC means ICly, and you must be fair with what your character might or might not figure out during a roleplay. Unless your character is Sherlock Holmes, you are not going to be magically figuring out every plot point and twist.
Turn-Based Posts:
Battle City III operates in a turn-based posting system. The order of posts may be decided by the participants at the beginning of the rp session. Once an order is decided, players should not post out of turn unless it is discussed that a change in order is needed.
Roleplay is not about who can type the fastest to reply a post sooner, and that sort of roleplaying will not be allowed.
Example: A posts > B posts > C posts > A posts
Put effort into your posts:
Battle City III uses paragraph-roleplaying. This does not mean you have to write a wall of text, but players should try to put a decent amount of detail into their posts (5+ lines should be the goal).
Not everyone is a roleplaying veteran or even grew up para-rping, so as long as you are truly trying to be descriptive your abilities will not be insulted or questioned. However if it feels like you are not putting forth effort, you will be asked to try to step it up a bit. You don't have to start off perfect; just be willing to improve if you need it!
No official canon characters:
Players may not create characters based off of the original canon cast. This means that you may not submit an application to roleplay Yuugi, Yami Yuugi, Katsuya Jounouch, Etc. If any Canon characters are added to a roleplay storyline, then it will be determined by the admins who will be playing that character.
Follow Battle City III's continuity:
Battle City III's setting is based 3 years after the end of the Memory World arc in Yu-Gi-Oh! The dream is based off of the Manga; as such, filler arcs such as the Virtual Worlds, the Doma arc, Kaiba Corp Grand Prix and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Pyramid of Light movie are not considered events that took place or happened, and as such should not be referenced or used as history.
Furthermore, the original Japanese names for canon characters should be used when those characters are referred to, and not their english dub names (example: Jounouchi Katsuya instead of Joey Wheeler).
Finally, the events of the Battle City III roleplay take place prior to when Yu-Gi-Oh! GX would have taken place; as such, nothing from GX's continuity should be used or referenced, either. This includes the Duel Academy and Duel Spirits.
Cards currently in existence:
At the moment, official cards from any series or set are allowed in the roleplay, despite whether or not they would have actually existed at the roleplay's time (such as cards released during Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, like Cyber Dragon).
However, Synchro Monsters are currently not considered to have been released yet in the roleplay, and will not be allowed to be used until proper rules on their inclusion in decks are determined.
Finally, players may not use any God-Class Cards in their decks without permission from the admins (See: battlecity3rp.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rprules&action=display&thread=7 ).
No meta-gaming or net-decking:
This is a roleplay, not a high-stakes tournament with an expensive prize. Players will not be allowed to submit a deck for their character which is deemed to be built towards a meta-gaming level of strength. Players should try to make their decks interesting and possibly themed towards a type (such as monster types, or deeper meanings behind card names, art or effects).
While duelists are certainly encouraged to try and make their decks strong, the focus of RP deck creation should not be on absolute victory alone, but creating exciting games.
More information will be added later as it is needed.
