So, you're new to Battle City III! You're probably wondering how the dream works, and hopefully this will answer your questions! (Images may be distorted to prevent patch theft).
The City Map:
Upon entering the dream, you do not initially appear in any specific area; instead, your avatar is hidden, you are unable to speak aloud, and you are shown a map over your screen.
By clicking on one of the areas shown on the map, you can teleport to that location!
Also note that the little player icons represent how many players are in each area at any given time; all gray means no-one is currently in that area. As people enter that part of the map, the icons will begin to fill up, and when you go to that area the dream will tell you how many people exactly are currently there, and the names of those people.
The dream will place you in the area near the last person to be active, so you should automatically show up near active players!
Finally, if you wish to return to the main map, there is a map button in your furcadia F-tab which when clicked will send you back to the map again.
Note that you can not move around the map while you have your Duel Disk deployed.
Dueling:
Battle City III is not just different because of its setting; text-based dueling commands have been done away with and replaced with a button-based system.
By accessing your F-tab while facing up and left or down and right (with enough space on all sides of your avatar), you can press the Duel Disk button to deploy your Duel Disk and start a game!
Once your disk has deployed, your F-tab will show all of the buttons you need to duel with. These buttons include:
Play Monster:
Pressing this button will allow you to select the monster type/battle position of your monster, and then the monster card zone in which you wish to play it.
Play Magic / Trap:
Pressing this button will allow you to select the magic, trap, union or face-down m/t card you wish to play and then the magic/trap card zone in which you wish to play it.
Destroy Card:
Pressing this button will show you all of your card zones. By clicking the zone in which the card you wish to destroy is located, that card will be destroyed.
Add Card to Hand & Discard Card from Hand:
These two buttons allow you to adjust your visable hand size. Use these to show your opponent how many cards are left in your hand (between 0 and 6).
Life Points:
The arrows in the bottom left allow you to increase or decrease your Life Points. It should be noted you shouldn't click the actual numbers, as it will reset the buttons to blank and you won't be able to see your Life Points on the buttons themselves until you adjust them again!
End Duel:
This button will end the current game, removing all cards from your field, your hand and re-storing your Duel Disk.
Cancel Play:
This button will show up when you are in the middle of playing or destroying cards; by clicking this you can cancel the play and go back to the main menu if you accidentally click the wrong card type.
Setting up your duel:
So, you know how to use the Duel Disk buttons to play cards; but how do you actually duel?
First, you need a deck of your own. Your real-life deck will do, but you can also create a virtual deck using the Yugioh Virtual Desktop program found at xerocreative.com/?goto=downloads
When you're ready to duel, you and your opponent face one another with 4 squares between you, facing down and right, and up and left towards eachother. Deploy your Duel Disks, roll one ten-sided dice ("roll 1d10" in furcadia) to decide who choses the starting player, and then begin!
Use your real-life or virtual deck just like you would in a normal real-life game. This means shuffle it properly, play normally, and don't cheat or look at cards you wouldn't normally be allowed to look at (such as the top card of your deck before you draw it, or re-arranging cards in your deck, etc). It's almost impossible to prove if someone is cheating, but players can often tell if you are over time, and it can ruin your reputation and friendships in the community.
Ranking up:
By playing in official "Ranking Skirmishes", duelists can try to improve their dueling stats such as win/loss ratio, average Life Points at the end of a Duel, etc.
Ranking Skirmishes are to be announced, but are planned to be once a month on a Sunday to be decided.
